This third full-length record from Zimmers Hole starts off with the title track, which name checks Exodus and is funny as hell. The fact that Gene Hoglan, drummer for Dethklok, is on board shows you these guys mean business, which is definitely a change. Vocalist The Heathen has done his homework and exceeds at singing, combining early eighties thrash and bands like Strapping Young Lad, whose Devin Townshend had a hand in the production of this record. Songs like "We Rule the Fucking Land" are basically their battle cry and impress with their vocals and speed.

"Flight of the Knight Bat" comes off with the clearest singing I've heard in metal in a while. The ending chant of "your mother sucks cocks in hell" from "The Exorcist" is a nice touch. "1312" sounds a bit like Tenacious D with its high-pitched vocals, which could be a good or bad thing depending on who you are.

The attempt at pairing blues with metal on "Devil's Mouth" doesn't come off as strong as one would like but it's a daring attempt, nevertheless. "The Vowel Song" with a special appearance by Nathan from Dethklok is funny as hell, with him introducing the song as "a song to help you read." If you like Dethklok, chances are you're going to love Zimmers Hole.

"Anonymous Esophagus" is probably the most straight ahead song on the record but it works rather well. It would probably work for a band like SYL. Same goes for "Alright," but the latter sounds like it could work better with Motley Crue or some other hair band. In the end, this is a really good record, up there with the Dethklok record but with more humor poking fun at the clichés of metal, which is much needed in this genre.
